Questions
- Is this affiliated with Y Combinator?
- No. Not Backed by YC is an independent parody project. Y Combinator has nothing to do with it, and the badge doesn’t claim any relationship with them.
- Who can get listed?
- Any real product YC hasn’t funded: bootstrapped companies, indie projects, side projects, and startups backed by someone else entirely.
- Do I have to keep the badge up?
- Yes. The badge is how you get on the list. It links to your page here, and listings whose badge disappears can be taken down.
- Can I add rel="nofollow" to the link?
- Please don’t. Keep the embed code as it is, pointing at your own page, so your listing stays eligible.
- Who reviews submissions?
- A person. We open your site, look for the badge, and publish your listing once it’s there.
